About your Body

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” ~◈~ Hippocrates

It is about your body – and about the body of your significant other and your children.  What you eat and put into your body is either creating abundance in your body and in your health and therefore in your life or it is not.

But really, what do we have without having our health?  This is a BIG question that many people have never really asked themselves until they are very sick or so overweight or labeled with Depression, Chronic Fatigue, Autism, Asthma, Cancer and the list goes on and on.

“The greatest wealth is health.” ~◈~Virgil

Taking responsibility for our health and for the health of our family is the most important thing we can do while on the planet.  I mean really taking care of our health.  I mean —  it is about your body and creating abundance in your health by eating healthy foods and by taking control of your health by what you put into your beautiful body.

It is as simple as that. And you know what?  It really is simple.  If we just go back to the way people used to eat before there were preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, boxed and manufactured foods.

Eating healthy foods like fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and salads, meats, chicken, turkey, beef, fish, eggs, grains (bread) and brown rice, oatmeal and some dairy — all without preservatives is the best thing we can do for our health.

I was raised on a farm and we ate all these things and occasionally my mother would bake cookies, cakes, or pies; usually on a special occasion. We did have ice cream sometimes from the creamery where they processed milk and milk products — and mom would make homemade ice cream.  My mom would sometimes pop popcorn, grown in our garden. (At Christmas we made molasses popcorn balls –sticky and yummy!) and sometimes we ate Old Dutch potato chips.

We ate everything in moderation.

We were never deprived in eating like this.

I still eat like this.  And I feed my daughter like this.  I also send my daughter to school with a sack lunch, and she has never eaten school lunch food with the exception of several times in grade school.  My daughter never liked it.  In fact, my daughter never liked McDonald’s food.  She is in high school and seems to always have the healthiest lunch, and her friends comment that she’s always eating healthy foods.

The warmer months are here and it is BBQ weather.  If you feed your family simply and by eating healthy foods you will teach your children how to love them.  Your family is relying on you to know what is best for them.  (It’s easy to overcook meats and vegetables and it’s important to not overcook and destroy necessary enzymes.)

It starts with YOU!  Remember it is about your body.  Don’t you love being healthy?

“When you have your health, you have everything. When you do not have your health, nothing else matters at all.” ~◈~ Augusten Burroughs

Start saying YES to crunchy vegetables with a fresh dill and yogurt dip (Your kids will go wild over veggies and dip.). Start saying YES to salads using spinach, and lettuce.  Chop carrots, purple onion, cucumbers, tomatoes, and radishes and put them in your salads.  Use salad dressings that are low in sugar.  Our bodies love salads and raw veggies in the warmer months.  Your family will love it!

Isn’t Springtime great! It is in the Spring time when our body naturally wants to and does detox itself.  Spring is a great time for change and to begin eating healthy foods — you will feel the difference.  You will begin creating abundance in your mind, body, and spirit.

Start saying NO to foods with a shelf life of one year.  Start saying NO to canned foods.  Start saying NO to chips doused in chemical flavorings.  Start saying NO to Oreos.

“Lucky Charms are like the vampires of breakfast cereal. They’re magical, they’re delicious, they’re a little bit dangerous and bad for you. They initially make you feel great, but then over time you realize that maybe your relationship with Lucky Charms is just a little bit unhealthy, and you start to think, ‘Maybe I don’t want to be in a long-term relationship with a breakfast cereal that tastes delicious but damages my health.’ But then the Lucky Charms gets all stalker on you and for some reason you kind of like that. It makes you feel special. So yeah, you spend your life with Lucky Charms. That’s awesome. That’s a great way to… get diabetes.~◈~ John Green

Start creating abundance in your health.  Once you start eating healthy foods – You will then be able to extinguish all thoughts about even considering bringing those non-healthy foods into your home.
